"A short note to flag up the sterling work of TSF members and supporters Sam and Ellie Simmons. TSF members may well know of the indispensable ‘directory’ aspect of their publications, providing listings of events, organisations, and so on, but they may not realise how many actual articles on song and music they include. Folklife Traditions Journal No. 80, for example, has just arrived and contains excellent short articles on Baring Gould’s singers, press gangs on the Tyne, songs about fishing, and the histories of a number of different songs – including texts and tunes.
