Halsway Provisional Re-Opening: 17 May
Updated 26.02.2021
In their recent COVID-19 response, the UK Government have suggested that organisations like ours will be able to open when we reach Step 3 of the roadmap out of lockdown. This will be no sooner that 17 May, and will be dependent upon favourable data regarding infection and transmission rates for the virus.
With this in mind, we are planning to re-open to guests on Mon 17 May. Covid-secure guidance will remain in place and we expect to operating at reduced capacity. We will be reviewing this in the coming weeks and months, and we’ll continue to make further information available to you.
At present the Manor is still closed, with the office open for Booking Enquiries on Mondays only, 10am-4pm. In the month prior to opening staff will be returning to work and our office hours will return to normal.   [Newsletter 15/3/2021]

⊕     A traditional English Folk festival experience. Music, dance, Song, Workshops, Children’s events and so much more besides. Although it has seen many changes since its beginnings in Lacock all those years ago, it still retains its ‘village’ atmosphere, providing three and a half days packed with song, dance, workshops and dance displays.
Over 200 events take place within the town centre, turning the whole town into a giant party. The main ceilidh and concert events take place in the beautiful park alongside the river, while practically every pub and venue in the town is used for a vast range of sessions, workshops and smaller concerts and dances. There is also a full program of children’s’ events, a large craft marquee, catering facilities and an open air arena in the park. The High Street and historic Market Square are both pedestrianised, and are used throughout the weekend for busking, street theatre and processions. A huge street fair also takes place on the Monday.

CFF Coronavirus Update: we are sad to report that following the recent government review and discussions with our organising committee we have made the decision to take the cautious and safest route and postpone the planned 2021 festival. Although the Government Road Map laid out on 22nd February indicates that all restrictions may be removed by no sooner than 21st June, we can’t rely on there being no further slippage, so it is unrealistic to assume we could definitely go ahead with a full-blown festival by 2nd July.
Our volunteer organisers and most of our visitors fall into the “vulnerable group” category and we feel that it may not be sufficiently safe for them to return to an indoor festival in early July. If any form of Social distancing remains in place the restrictions would not allow us to mix and mingle in the friendly manner we have come to know and love at Cleckheaton. Singarounds, Sessions and the Ceilidh would be a massive problem area and workshops and specials would be difficult too. Restrictions on seating in our Town Hall could reduce the capacity to as little as 65 people and we have no certainty that our other venues will have become available in time.
We have secured all the artists that were re-scheduled for 2021 and the line-up for 2022 is now in place so, as disappointed as we are, we can now look forward to 1st, 2nd & 3rd July 2022 when we can all meet again, in as safe an environment as possible, to enjoy what should be a brilliant festival. All tickets originally purchased for 2020 will be honoured in 2022 and we have contacted all ticket holders.
Our website details will be amended in the next few days [as of 8/3/2021. - Ed.]    [Newsletter 15/3/2021]

2021 Jul 7 - 11   NEW FOREST FOLK FESTIVAL              www.newforestfolkfestival.co.uk
Due to Covid 19, originally rescheduled from July, 2020 to August Bank Holiday 26th - 30th 2020.  We held the faith for as long as we could but sadly Government guidelines have made it clear that no live performances will be permitted at present and it’s not fair on everyone to hold on any longer, we had hoped that this would not apply to outdoor festivals like ours but it was not to be, secondly a local lockdown such as Leicester could if closing us down days before cause us catastrophic financial consequences. So the New Forest Folk Festival has sadly been rescheduled to 7 - 11 July 2021.

2021 Jul 8 - 11  BROMSGROVE FOLK FESTIVAL           www.bromsgrovefolkclub.co.uk

⌂    BROMSGROVE FOLK FESTIVAL      Bob, 0121 476 5938.         bobcynfolk<at>aol.com
⊕    Not been to us before? We have a pub for sessions, a large camping field, excellent toilet facilities, a main marquee seating about 400 people for  “up close and personal” concerts, a smaller marquee seating about 100 people which we use for smaller concerts, singarounds, sessions and meet the artists. We do not overlap acts between venues so if that if you’ve paid to see a particular act then you will see that act — and without having to queue for an hour before the concert to make sure you get in - revolutionary or what?!   In and around the site there are many other diverse activities,  including many opportunities to sing in and around the pub and in the MiniMarquee,  to keep you occupied for the entire weekend.
Guests that had been booked for 2020 included Colum Sands, The Lost Notes, Union Jill, Anthony John Clarke, Dave Gibb, Miriam Backhouse, Keith Donnelly, Ursula Holden Gill, Fairfield, Tosh Ewins, Stitherum, The Jigantics.

⌂  PRIDDY FOLK FESTIVAL ASSOCIATION,  01749 678949.   Priddy Folk Festival Association, Rose Farm, Wells Road, Priddy, Wells, Somerset BA5 3AZ
⊕    This friendly festival is held in the idyllic setting of our Village Green, high on the beautiful Mendip Hills AONB, near Wells in Somerset.  The programme always includes a mixture of world class performers and up and coming talent.  We are particularly proud of our work with local youth folk groups in a tie up with Halsway Manor National Centre for The Folk Arts.  But the weekend also provides great music, and dance, workshops, yoga sessions, club tent, excellent craft and traders in the market square, guided archaeology walks to explore the local Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments, a full programme of entertainment for the children throughout the weekend and much more.
For 2021 programme, check out our website. We will be trying as far as possible to put together the same programme for 9th to 11th July,  and all tickets purchased for 2020 will be valid. If you have a ticket and cannot come to the festival next year we do offer a full refund.  There is onsite camping with warm showers(!), world foods and beer and cider tents as well as a village pub!   If you have not already done so sign up to receive newsletters to keep you up to date with all that is going on.

⊕ We are delighted that many of our artists that were booked for 2020 have confirmed their availability for 2021 so we can bring you the same great line up.
So for 2021 we will be at our exciting new site adjacent to Warwick Castle. After the disruption by development at our old site over the last couple of festivals, the new site will allow us to have a much improved layout with room for whatever social distancing regulations may be in place and everyone camping in easy reach of the venues, also plenty of free parking for day visitors. Lots of showers and toilets, crafts, food and drink as you have come to expect. Again the real ale festival bar will be run by the famous Fleece Inn of Bretforton.
The town centre is only 10 minutes away, and on the walk up the road there are shops and ancient hostelries to distract you or take the route up the drive past the castle which will be offering special deals to festival ticket holders.,
The festival brings together leading names from around the world for a 4-day music and dance extravaganza. Its unique programme has something for everyone from dedicated folk fans to music lovers who are discovering that ‘folk’ covers a wide range of tastes and styles. See our website for full details.

A high-energy four-day residential event for young people between 11 and 18 years of age, at Glanllyn, the Urdd Residential Centre in Bala. We offer places to approximately 40 young people. There are instrumental, vocal and clog dancing lessons during the day, followed by informal sessions, concerts, get-togethers, twmpathau and more in the evenings, with opportunities for the young people to take part in some of the fun outdoor activities which Glan-llyn has to offer, too. Towards the end of the course, there is also a chance to perform.
Instrumental workshops: players need to have their own instrument, and be able to play at least to a basic standard. Instrumentalists are asked to tell us on the enrolment form their approximate level of experience. Ability to read music is not required, nor is experience of folk music; most of the workshops will be taught by ear.
• Song Workshops:  open to everyone from beginners to experienced participants. No experience of folk singing is needed.
• Dance workshops:  last year there were two clog dance classes; intermediate and advanced.

There’s exciting opportunities for amateur promoters, bands, or artists to be part of the festival by hiring a venue and hosting their own fringe events - workshops, concerts, or dances - we’d love to have you! For a small contribution towards marketing (getting you featured in the programme and on our website and social media channels), you can use the Folk Weekend name and logo for your event.  You will manage the event yourself, and keep 100% of any ticket sales you make: to find out more, email info<at>folkweekendoxford.co.uk.
